Santa Cruz Officials Take Oath of Office

Marisa Red-Martinez officially assumed her post as the new Municipal Mayor of Santa Cruz, Marinduque on June 30, 2022 together with all the newly elected officials of the municipality.
In a whole-day affair that began with Mayor Martinez, Vice Mayor Medwin “Kuya Bobs” Manuel, and the newly-elected Councilors taking their oaths of office administered by Municipal Trial Court Judge Melba DM Peralta, the inaugural ceremonies welcomed a new dawn of vibrant, fresh, and innovative leadership in the premiere town of Marinduque.
United for Santa Cruz
During her address to the Inaugural Session of the Sangguniang Bayan of Santa Cruz, Mayor Red stressed the importance of uniting together and foregoing political differences among the newly elected officials to solidify the local government’s strategy towards economic recovery.
Outlining her 10-point agenda, Mayor Red extended her hand to the Municipal Councilors to deepen collaboration with the local executive branch particularly in. enacting the necessary legislative instruments that would allow the municipality to swiftly and more efficiently request various forms of assistance from the national government as well as build partnerships for growth and sustainable development.
“Not their own money but the people’s”
Mayor Red graciously acknowledged as well the infrastructure developed by the previous administration such as the COVID Isolation Facility, the Sanitary Landfill, and Evacuation Center. She nonetheless reminded her listeners that these developments were publicly funded and should be utilized and managed in accordance with established rules and regulations.
Mayor Red urged her fellow government officials to be cautious of these regulations and to follow established procedures so that publicly funded facilities and other programs are put to good use.
“Trust Your Leaders”
In the afternoon, the newly sworn-in officials first attended a Thanksgiving Mass at the Parish of the Holy Cross celebrated by Parish Priest Fr. Elino Esplana before proceeding to the Town Plaza for the full inaugural celebrations.
Marinduque Governor Presbitero Velasco graced the event and delivered his remarks announcing his full support for the administration of Mayor Marisa Red and urging the people of Santa Cruz and its local government officials to stand behind the Mayor in support of her development agenda. In her Address to the People, Mayor Red likewise pledged her full support for the leadership of Governor Velasco and Congressman Lord Alan Velasco.
Citing the successful expropriation of the Marcopper Roads which she initiated during her first term, Mayor Red rallied her constituents to place their trust in her vision for Santa Cruz – one that has been tested and proven to deliver results even without promising them in the first place. Mayor Red vowed to bring the same fervor and hard work she exerted during her first term in 2016-2019, acknowledging her duty to maintain the love and service her late parents – the former Mayor Wilfredo R. Red and Mrs. Jovita Romasanta-Red demonstrated to the people of Santa Cruz.
Thanking her constituents, Mayor Red ended her address by inviting the people of Santa Cruz to be hopeful and look up to a happier future ahead.
Inspirational and Motivational Vice-Mayor
Vice Mayor “Kuya Bobs” Manuel and the rest of the newly elected councilors of Santa Cruz – Councilors KC Constantino, Atty. Revo Red, Macario Perilla, Joam Morales, Armando Palma, Emilio Alvarez, and Rustico Reynoso then took their respective Oaths of Office administered by Mayor Red. In his own address, Vice Mayor Manuel joined Mayor Red in calling for a united effort towards bringing development in Santa Cruz. Taking a cue from his humble beginnings, the Sangguniang Bayan’s new Presiding Officer said he hopes to motivate and inspire especially the young people of Santa Cruz to persevere, work hard, and realize their dreams.
The same call for cooperation and expressions of gratitude resonated across the speeches of the other councilors. On the part of the Barangay Captains, ABC President Councilor Felix Dy reassured the new administration of his and the ABC’s support for shared objectives towards the betterment of the municipality.
Hosted by Dr. Susan Pineda and Josh Iverson Red, the Inaugural Ceremonies for the Newly Elected Officials of the Municipality of Santa Cruz was graced by performances from the Santa Cruz South District Dancers and the Santa Cruz School Heads Grand Choir.
Stretching way into the night, the program was capped by dance numbers and a Putong Ceremony from the Santa Cruz Municipal Employees Association (SCMEA).
